You may have heard us mention one of these great events, check them out!

Lehigh County Extension wants to remind you that it is still mosquito season. Mosquitos can carry West Nile Virus and can transmit heartworms to dogs and cats. All mosquitos need water to breed, so DUMP THE WATER AND FIGHT THE BITE...Call Lehigh County Extension at 610-366-8345 for more information on protecting yourself, your family and your pets.

August Events:

*The 4th annual gala Evening for Education, Reach for the Stars! on August 14th at the Atascadero Pavilion on the Lake. It includes appetizers with wine and beer, dinner, live and silent auction followed by dancing to live music. The money we raise provides grants to the teachers throughout the district to benefit all the children. Last year we were able to give out $72,680 for teacher grants and to improve our libraries. * The 3rd Annual Golf Tournament, presented by "Beyond Labels & Limitations, Inc." benefitting Limb-Girdle 2A Muscular Dystrophy research will take place Sunday, August 15th at the Bethlehem Golf Club. 1pm Shotgun start, check-in time 12pm. $85 per person (includes greens fee, cart, snack, dinner, beverage and t-shirt) payable to “Beyond Labels & Limitations, Inc.”: a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. *The “Wheels for Jeremy” Golf Outing will be Saturday, August 21^st at Southmoore Golf Course on Route 512 in Bath, PA. Jeremy Torres was a former varsity basketball player at Dieruff High School. In 200, Jeremy lost the use of his arms and legs in a tragic automobile accident. Despite his disability, Jeremy continues to coach kids at the East Side Youth Center. Transportation is a challenge and this golf outing will help raise funds to purchase a vehicle with a lift for Jeremy to get around easier. * The 2nd Annual 1818 Tavern St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Golf Scramble at Wedgewood Golf Course on August 29th with teams of 4, $85 per person. Registration is going on now at 1818 tavern in Palmer Township, 610-258-0064

September Events

* Access Services Lehigh Valley Community Day at the Bethlehem Township Community Center, Sunday, September 11th from 10am-7pm. A free event with lots of fun activities for the family, along with live music their will also be a 9/11 remembrance honoring local firefighters with on-site safety activities. All proceeds will benefit Access Service's Project Oasis...which supports Lehigh Valley families and caregivers of children and adults with developmental disabilities, emotional and other mental health challenges by providing affordable respite services.
